| 1 |
|
Open a new document, from
the menu bar select File>New |
| 2
|
|
Select the type tool from
the toolbar and click an insertion point on your canvas
(for more on text see the Photoshop 6 Working with Text
tutorial) Type your Text. |

3 |
|
Now we need to commit to the
edits by clicking on the Check mark in the Context sensitive
toolbar. |

4 |
|
If your Styles palette isn't
open then choose Windows>Show Styles from the menu
bar |
5 |
|
Be sure your text layer is
selected (click on the text layer in the Layer Palette)
Click on the style you'd like to apply. I choose
the purple one in the bottom row of the image below.
|

6 |
|
To see the effects that were
applied with this style or to make your own alterations,
double click the text layer. |

| 7 |
|
This brings up the Layer Styles
dialog. |

8 |
|
You can check or uncheck any
of the options and see the changes right away before
committing to them. |
9 |
|
Let's make a few alterations
so we can make a new layer style. I unchecked the
Gradient Overlay and checked the Color Overlay |
10 |
|
Then I clicked on Texture,
then I double clicked on it to bring up this dialog.
You can choose one that's here or click the arrow
and load more. |

11 |
|
Once you get the style the
way you like, then click the New Style button. |

12 |
|
Name it and click OK. You
can see below the result of the new style. Also notice
at the bottom of the Styles Palette, our new style has
been added. |
