Photoshop 6

Annotating a file

by Joyce Evans

Photoshop 6 has incorporated annotation tools for embedding written design notes or recorded voice comments in your files. Annotated Photoshop PSD or TIFF files an be sent to anyone with Photoshop 6 or saved as a PDF with annotations and layers preserved, which can then be viewed in Adobe Acrobat.

1
Open any file you'd like. I'm using one that ships with Photoshop 6 which can be found in the Samples folder called Chair web page

2 Select the notes tool from the toolbar

3
Fill in the Authors name, select font, font size and note color from the context sensitive bar (below the menu bar)

4
Click on your file to place a note, or you can click and drag for a customized note size.

5 Now all you have to do is type your text inside the note area.

6

If you have a microphone and would like to record a message then select the Audio Annotation Tool (found in the Annotation note fly-out on the toolbar)

7

Click on the file like you did for the note and this dialog comes up. Just click start to start recording your voice and stop when you are done.

8

The file can now be saved as a PSD or a TIFF to be viewed by anyone using Photoshop 6. Or it can be saved as a PDF with annotations and layers preserved.

9

Notice the icons below. To read the note double click on the note icon, to hear the voice annotation, double click on the speaker icon.

10

You can also toggle the visibility of the notes you've added From the menu bar choose View>Show>Notes repeat to make them visible again.

11
To delete an annotation, right click on it and choose delete (Ctrl-click for the Mac)
