Corel Photo-Paint 9

1 Download tab.zip unzip the file you'll see tab.cdr. Be sure to check the transparent background option.
2 Open a photo to place your tab on.

3 Have your object docker open - if it isn't already go to Windows|Dockers|Objects

Open tab.cdr, be sure the tab is selected - go to Edit|Copy
Click on the image you choose to select it.

Edit|Paste|As New Object - Move it with the object picker tool (black arrow) To move - place your cursor over one of the edges, you'll see the small cross, then hold down your left mouse key and drag into place

Click on the background (Objects Docker) to select it (a red box will be around the background icon)

Mask|select all

Click on object 1 in the Objects Docker to select it.

7 Click on fill tool, look at the properties bar and click the gradient icon then the edit fill icon

Edit fill Dialog
Type: Linear Color blend, two color From black to White click the down arrows to select colors. Black is the first color on the top row left.
Click OK

Click inside of the selection of object 1 to fill it.

Mask|Create from Objects - It will look like picutue below. If yours isn't red or another color surrounding the tab then you have the mask view toggled off. To toggle it on click the S shape icon on the properties bar.

Mask|Shape|Reduce (contract) and select 6
Click OK

Click Edit fill again for the Gradient fill and change the colors from: black to white and white to black.
C click Ok
Click inside your selection to fill with the new gradient (it's the opposite of the first one. Notice the red surrounding your frame, that is the contracted frame.

Now hit the delete key to empty the selection. With the mask view on, it looks funny so now click the S icon and you'll see this (your image of course)

Add new object (bottom of Objects Docker to the left of the trash can) and fill selecion with black (double click the fill tool, check paint color, Uniform fill (next to the eye dropper, edit and change to black)

In the Objects Docker click and drag the object below your frame and change the opacity to 40 or whatever looks good to you.

To finish the effect, type on your white text

 

Experiment with different shapes for your tab, and different angles in your gradient fills. For example, I don't care for some of the lines in the frame, by changing the angle of the gradient you will change the look of the frame. Experiment with the frame until you get it to look the way you like. Also if your frame has more angles the fill will look differently.
