Make all these designs using the techniques taught in "Web Page In A Day!" training CD. The first design for Road Runner Insurance is the one you'll build from start to finish. For more details go to The "Web Page In A Day!" order page.
Drawing a Dashed Line
If you draw maps or coupon cut outs you will need a dashed line.
In this tutorial you will make a dashed line and save it as a command
to use again. To make a dashed line follow these steps:
| 1 |
| Click on the Line tool and draw
a line about two inches long. Just before you release the
mouse press the Ctrl/Option key to constrain the line to a
straight line. (Don't press the Ctrl/Option key while you
are drawing.) |

2 |
|
Open the Stroke panel
(Window|Stroke) and in the Stroke category choose Random. |
| 3
|
|
In the Stroke name box choose
Dots. |

| 4
|
|
Double-click in
the Tip box (arrow is pointing where to click) to open up
the Edit Stroke dialog box. |

| 5
|
|
The first tab is Options.
Set the Ink Amount to 100%, the Spacing at 250%, and Tips to
1. |
| 6
|
|
Click the Shape tab,
for Size enter 30, Edge enter 8, Aspect enter 20 and leave
the Angle at 360. Also check the Square option, unless you
want to make a dotted line instead of a dashed line. Click
the Sensitivity tab. |

| 7
|
|
In the Brush Category
choose Size. Change all the settings, Pressure, Speed, Horizontal,
Vertical, and Random to 0. Repeat this for every option in the
Brush category. Click OK. |
| 8 |
|
Your dashed line
should now be applied to the line you drew. If it looks the
way you like, continue to the next step.
If it doesn't or you want a different look/size go back
to the Edit Strokes panel (double-click on the Tip in the
Stroke panel) and change the spacing and/or the size of the
dash.
Note: If you make changes to the dash, or if you have redone
steps as you've progressed in this project, redo it from the
beginning if you'd like to make a command.
|
| 9
|
|
This step is optional,
if you want to make a command.
Open the History panel (Window|History), Shift select all
the steps you see in the panel and click on the right pointing
arrow. From the Options pop-up menu choose, Save As a Command.
Give it a name you will recognize, I named it road dashes.
A copy of this command (also a dotted line and a shorter dash)
is included on the Commands page (click the link at the top
of the page under the Fireworks banner). The command is automatically
available for use from the Commands menu.
