Making Beveled Text with a Transparent Center
This tutorial is intermediate. I assume you know how to use the
text tools
To begin, follow these steps:

| Open a new Canvas, canvas color
teal, size 300X200
|

Type Sample using
Arial Black size 60 color black
Increase Range/Kerning to 13

Copy and paste (3 times)

Make one copy of
the text gold
|

Add an Effect Effects|Bevel
and Emboss|Outer Bevel
Width 4 and gold color

Modify|Flatten Selection
(In FW4 its Modify|Convert to Bitmap) |

On another copy of the black text, flatten it as well (convert
to bitmap)

Move the black text
over the gold text. Center it so the bevel you want visible
is visible. You may need to move the black text above the
gold in the Layers panel
|

Click each black
letter with the Magic Wand tool. Hold the Shift key as you
click on each letter
