This is a pretty impressive book for the money. It is full color and retails for only $16.99 and even cheaper on Amazon. It is a small compact size which makes it easy to carry with you or to tuck into your camera bag. The inside flap works as a great bookmark as well. I'm finding I really like this feature. It's so much easier then sticking in a napkin or the closest piece of paper I can find. Also for this price there is even a CD! On the CD you'll find a trial version of Photoshop Elements 2 and of Photoshop Album as well as a few more trial versions of third party software.

If you need help choosing a digital camera or learning the basic functions, then it's covered in the beginning of the book. Then you'll learn the basics of taking photos such as how to adjust the image size and quality, using the focus or controlling the exposure.

In chapter 2 some of things you'll learn how to work with light, use a flash, use special effects and use the white balance.

In chapter 3 you learn how to take better photos of people, use selective focus, self-portraits and more.

In chapter 4 some of the things you'll learn landscape photography essentials, how to do rainy day photos, snowy photos and night photography.

In chapter 5 you'll do food photography, product shots, photos of cars, panoramas and much more.

In chapter 6 you'll learn how to transfer your images to your computer, organize and manage the images, develop photos and set up your own photo gallery.

This book is for new users of digital cameras. It covers things such as how to take certain kinds of images, how to do photo shoots and the composition. Also how to choose lenses and how to setup your light sources.

This book is not camera specific nor any program specific. It's a wonderful full-color, beautiful book to get you started taking fantastic digital photos. This book should be included with every new digital camera. At the very least, every person who buys their very first camera should get this book.
